Albert Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist who lived from 14 March 1879 to 18 April 1955. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential physicists of all time. Einstein is best known for developing the theory of relativity, but he also contributed significantly to the development of quantum mechanics. Einstein suffered internal bleeding on April 17, 1955, as a result of the rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm that had previously been reinforced surgically by Rudolph Nissen in 1948. He brought a draught of a speech he was preparing for a television appearance commemorating the 7th anniversary of the state of Israel with him to the hospital, but he did not live to finish it.
