Titanic, also known as the Royal Mail Ship (RMS) Titanic, British luxury passenger liner that sank during its maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New York City on April 14–15, 1912, killing approximately 1,500 passengers and ship personnel (see Researcher's Note: Titanic).
