Kapil Sharma (born April 2, 1981) is an Indian stand-up comedian, television host, television actor, and film and television producer best known for hosting The Kapil Sharma Show. He formerly presented the comedy series Comedy Nights with Kapil and Family Time with Kapil on television. Sharma was named the most popular Indian television personality in April 2016 by Ormax Media. In 2016, and 2017, Forbes India rated him 11th and 18th on their Celebrity 100 list, respectively. In 2013, he was named CNN-IBN Indian of the Year in the entertainment category, and in 2015, he was placed third in The Economic Times' Most Admired Indian Personality List. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi nominated Sharma for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in 2014.
