In a first, Wildlife Crime Control Bureau member Rohan Bhate and wildlife researcher Hemant Kenjale spotted the Maharashtra golden-backed frog (Indosylvirana caesari) near a remote waterfall in the Sahyadri Tiger Reserve. “There has been very little research and hardly any information available about these species, their reproduction, and other scientific evidence," said Bhate. The frog was earlier spotted at Amboli, Sindhudurg.
