Survey revealed, willful defaulters owe Rs 1.4 trillion to lenders

According to the Economic Survey, it has been revealed that the willful defaulters owe Rs1.4 trillion to the lenders. The defaulters are spread across several sectors, while the manufacturing firms hold the largest share of it. According to RBI rules, when a firm defaulted in meeting its repayment obligations, despite having the capacity to honor these obligations, is termed as “willful defaulter”.
