Our understanding of how Mars was formed might be completely wrong. Previous studies had suggested the Red Planet had grown more rapidly in just 2 to 4 million years after the Solar System started taking its shape based on analysis of tungsten isotopes in Martian meteorites. But now a new study says Mars was formed gradually, accumulating mass for 20 million years pulling particles into its gravitational field.
