A rare canvas by French artist Paul Gauguin from his time in Tahiti, was sold for a whopping 9.5 million euros ($10.5 million) in Paris on Tuesday. The auction house said the selling price was twice its estimated value. The controversy hovering upon Gauguin's relationships with young girls on the Polynesian island and his depictions of them attracted even more bidders to participate in the bidding.
