President Kovind appoints Justice NV Ramana as new Chief Justice of India

Senior Judge NV Ramana has been appointed as the new Chief Justice of India by President Ramnath Kovind. Justice Raman will take oath as the new CJI on April 24. The current Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde is due to retire on April 23. CJI Bobde had designated Justice Ramana as his successor last month in a letter that he wrote to the union law ministry. Justice Ramana will be the 48th Chief Justice of the country.
