Wildfire smoke clouds cover huge areas of the United States, from the West Coast to the Atlantic Ocean, according to NASA satellite photos. The two pictures were released on July 23 by NASA's Earth Observatory. In a statement, Ryan Stauffer, an atmospheric scientist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland, said, "That's a scale of particle pollution that New York City hasn't experienced in more than a decade."
