Snowcaps in Himalayas are melting leading to the spread of toxic green algae blooms so big they can be spotted from space. Blooms of the marine species Noctiluca scintillans, known as ‘sea sparkle’, are covering coastlines around Arabian Sea. The algae has the ability to thrive in coastal waters forming thick green swirls and filaments. It’s proliferating at an alarming pace around India, Pakistan and other nations.
