Water is unexpectedly disappearing from Mars' surface baffling scientists. It’s happening faster than our current understanding of the red planet. It also defies what past observations indicated. The gradual disappearance takes place in sunlight when water molecules are broken into hydrogen and oxygen atoms. When they are broken down, Mars's weak gravity fails to keep a hold of them, so they disappear off into space.
