Scientists have spotted evidence of mutations in some COVID-19 strains and they fear the pathogen may be adapting to humans after spilling over from bats. The analysis of more than 5,300 coronavirus genomes across 62 countries says while the virus is generally stable, some have mutated. It points out to ‘two significant genetic changes that alter the key ‘spike protein’ the virus utilizes to infect human cells.
