France to scan social media for tax cheats

French government will now be able to scan social media to identify tax avoidance, as per the latest constitutional court ruling. Users' profiles, posts and pictures will be reviewed in search of evidence of any undisclosed income. The new rules will boost a broader law on tax changes sanctioned last week. Human rights groups and the French data protection authority had earlier expressed concern over the latest move.
