Europe accounts for 45% of global COVID-19 cases, 60% of deaths

Europe has recorded 45% of the total number of COVID-19 cases worldwide and it accounts for 60% of worldwide deaths resulting from complications due to COVID-19, according to a World Health Organisation report. The European region has registered a total of 1.6 million cases and almost 150,000 deaths. However, the daily increase in positive tests for COVID-19 in Europe as a whole has slowed down since 12 April.
