Air India has been slapped with a Rs. 1.1 crore fine by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for safety violations on certain flights. The penalty follows an in-depth investigation into alleged safety breaches on Mumbai-Bengaluru-San Francisco flights using leased Boeing B777 aircraft since November 2022. DGCA found that that the airline wasn't complying with oxygen-related requirements. The probe began when an Air India employee filed a complaint in October, claiming safety violations on specific long-range terrain critical routes.
