Climate disaster as 2.5 billion tons of food disposed by farms

Every year, over 2.5 billion metric tonnes of food is wasted throughout the world, with roughly half of that squandered on farms in Europe and the United States. This has a significant influence on the climate. According to research released Wednesday by the World Wildlife Fund and UK supermarket chain Tesco (TSCDF), the amount of food wasted is nearly double what the UN Food and Agriculture Organization had estimated.
