Climate change might abolish one-third of all plant and animal species on the Earth within 50 years, warn scientists. University of Arizona researchers compared data on recent extinctions with weather predictions for the next 50 years. They surveyed data from 538 species and 581 sites all over the world and found 44% of the 538 species are already extinct at one or more sites leading to alarming local extinctions.
