Brunei wont enforce Death Penalty for Gay Sex after severe global backlash

Brunei, the small southeast Asian country sparked an outcry when it rolled out its interpretation of Islamic laws or sharia punishing sodomy, adultery & rape with death including by stoning & has consistently defended it since 2014. However, in response to criticism, the sultan said the death penalty would not be imposed in the implementation of SPCO. The announcement drew a mixed response from critics.
