Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Act, 2023 will come into force from October 1 this year. The goal of the Bill is to make the birth certificate the sole irrefutable proof of age that may be used as a single document for several reasons, including the creation of voter lists. The Act allows the use of a birth certificate as a single document for admission to an educational institution, issuance of a driving licence, preparation of voter list.
