Belgium has become the world's worst-affected country considering the coronavirus mortality rate. This rate of 66.5%, unlike the total number of fatalities, is the number of deaths in relation to the size of the population. Belgium’s population is 11.5 million and 66 people in every 100,000 have died from Covid-19. According to the country’s latest official figures, out of 7,703 deaths, 53% have been in care homes.
