Many Australians could commit suicide due to the financial and psychological stress of the pandemic, and it can even surpass the death toll from the disease itself, experts have warned. It has been predicted an additional 750 to 1,500 suicides a year for the next 5 years because of the economic shutdowns imposed to curb virus spread. It will be a spike of 25 to 50% over the 3,000 suicides usually recorded each year.
