A startup in the Los Angeles region created by a veteran spaceflight robotics engineer showed a full-scale, functional prototype for a next-generation lunar rover that is as fast as NASA's old "moon buggy" but is meant to accomplish much more. During a five-day field test in December, the company, Venturi Astrolab Inc, revealed photographs and video of its FLEX vehicle riding over the rocky California desert near Death Valley National Park.
