This year will be the world’s hottest since measurements started, according to meteorologists. They predict there is a 50% to 75% chance that 2020 will break the record set 4 years ago. The coronavirus lockdown has temporarily cleared skies, but it has done little to cool the climate, which needs deeper, longer-term measures. Heat records have already been broken from the Antarctic to Greenland since January 2020.
