Spanish artwork ruined by botched ‘restoration’

A 17-th century painting of Virgin Mary has been ruined after the restoration. It has sparked a local outrage and it was a famous painting by the 17th century artist Murillo. An art professor said that, such works cannot be called as restoration where the original art is mutilated in the process. He is calling for regulation to ensure that only capable people are allowed to do restoration work to save the artworks.
