On August 15, the Gujarat government released the 11 convicts who were sentenced to life imprisonment for the gang rape of Bilkis Bano and murdering her family members during the 2002 Godhra riots. They were welcomed with sweets and garlands outside the jail. Reacting to the same, veteran Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi got teary-eyed as she spoke to NDTV.
