Derek Muller, a Science YouTuber, posted a video of a 100% wind-powered car that could travel faster than the wind's speed. He collaborated with another YouTuber, Xyla Foxlin, to test his theory. Professor Alex Kusenko of UCLA's Astronomy & Physics department conceded defeat and transferred $10,000 to Muller's account. Soon after, Muller announced a science communication competition to give it away.
