JK Rowling sets record straight about Harry Potter 'birthplace'

JK Rowling has cleared the doubts about The Elephant House cafe's claim that they are the "birthplace" of Harry Potter. When Rowling was asked by a fan on Twitter she revealed she had started writing Harry Potter before she ever set foot in the café. The Elephant House cafe in Edinburgh has a sign above their door which reads “The Birthplace of Harry Potter”. But the author said she did write some parts in there.
