When his parachute failed to completely open during a training exercise in California, a British soldier avoided death by crashing through someone's roof and landing into their kitchen. The parachutist dropped from a plane at 15,000 feet as part of the Halo exercise, which is used by the SAS and SBS for clandestine missions in dangerous terrain. The impact ripped a big hole in the bungalow's tiled roof.
