Sajitha went missing after leaving her parents' house in Ayilur village in February 2010. She was then discovered to be living with her lover, Rahman, and his family. But because Rahman utilised his skills to create an electric lock in Sajitha's room, which was normally kept shut for others, & his family was never alerted. The pair defended themselves in court, claiming that they were afraid that their families would oppose their union.
