Nylon bristles appeared several years after bristled toothbrushes initially appeared. The transition from natural to artificial bristles occurred swiftly because they were more sanitary, pleasant, and effective than conventional boar bristles. Despite the fact that this new tool was available to the whole public, it was WWII soldiers who helped expand the popularity of toothbrushing.
