The Lucknow High Court questioned the behaviour of Uttar Pradesh Police in the Hathras case that included the death of a 20-year-old girl due to brutal torture and alleged gang rape. "What if it was a girl from a rich family? Would you have cremated her the same way?" the court asked District Magistrate Praveen Kumar. The court further questioned the conduct of the police and its behaviour towards the victim's family.
