Woman to be compensated Rs 4.47 lakh for stolen gold by South Western Railways

Four years after Ramila Devi's 488gms of gold and Rs 90,000 in cash was stolen on the evening of February 21, 2014 while she was travelling from Bengaluru to Rajasthan in Garib Nawaz Express with her husband, daughter and mother-in-law, a city consumer court has ordered the South Western Railway to pay Rs 4.47 lakh to Devi. A man sitting on top berth had fled with Devi's purse and jumped out of the moving train.
