The mercy petition of Mukesh, one of the four convicts in the Nirbaya gangrape-murder case, has been rejected by the President of India Ramnath Kovind. The Rashtrapati Bhavan has communicated the decision of the President to the Union Home Ministry. The Ministry of Home Affairs had earlier forwarded the petition to the President, recommending its rejection, after the Delhi government rejected the petition one day earlier.
