A Pakistani woman has been arrested for contesting the Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh. The woman identified as Bano Begum, a Pakistani national, had managed to become an interim head of a village panchayat in Etah. She was on the run since the registration of an FIR against her on January 1. Bano had married Akhtar Ali of Etah on June 8, 1980, and had been staying in India by repeatedly extending her long term visa.
