The Supreme Court of India today dismissed the plea of Mukesh Singh, one of the four convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya gangrape-murder case, on Sunday. Mukesh had sought an urgent hearing of his plea on Monday, appealing the court to reinstate his mercy appeal rights. However, the apex court said it will hear the plea on March 16. President Ram Nath Kovind had rejected the mercy petition of Mukesh on January 17.
