Suresh Vats, a Uttar Pradesh police constable deployed to the prime minister’s campaign rally, later sent to disperse a protesting mob, was killed after protesters allegedly began pelting stones at the police. Chief Minister Adityanath has announced compensation of Rs 40 lakh for the wife of constable and Rs 10 lakh for his parents. The protest was being organised by members of the Nishad community.
