43 killed by gunmen at village market in northwest Nigeria

As many as 43 people were shot dead by gunmen from a suspected criminal gang in Nigeria. The incident happened at a village market in northwest Nigeria's Sokoto state. "Forty-three people have been confirmed dead following the attack by bandits in Goronyo village. It was a market day and there were many traders," said Sokoto government spokesman Muhammad Bello. Several other incidents of violence were reported across Nigeria.
