Under the Global Magnitsky Act that allows them to sanction human right offenders, the US has sanctioned 17 individuals for their alleged involvement in the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. Among these individuals are Maher Abdulaziz Mutreb, who Turkish authorities believe led a 15-man ‘kill team’ to murder Khashoggi, and a former top aide to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Saudi Consul General Mohammed Alotaibi.
