One person was killed and eight others were wounded during a knife attack at a subway stop in Villeurbanne, a suburb of the southeastern city of Lyon, France. Three of the eight victims are seriously wounded. The single fatality is a 19-year-old man. A suspect has already been taken into custody but the motive for the attack is still unknown. The suspected attacker has been identified as a 33-year-old asylum seeker.
