India has once again been placed on the currency manipulation watchlist by the US Treasury. This comes almost a year after India's exclusion from the list. The US Treasury places such countries in the list which it thinks are involved in unfair currency practices by deliberately devaluing their currency against the dollar. Countries usually do so to make their exports cheaper and imports more expensive to build a trade surplus.
