Thailand's "The Beach" shall remain closed until 2021

Thailand's Bay that was made iconic by its appearance in the film 'The Beach' will remain closed until 2021. Maya Bay on the island of Phi Phi Leh was temporarily closed last year after a sharp rise in the number of tourists which damaged the environment. It had 5000 visitors per day that lead to the death of its corals. Authorities have now decided to extend the ban so that Maya bay's ecology gets more time to recover.
