Tata Sons topples central government to become largest promoter of listed companies

In a remarkable feat, Salt-to-software conglomerate Tata Sons has overtaken the central government as the largest promoter of listed companies at the end of 2020. This is for the first time in two decades, that the centre has lost its place as the largest investor. According to the stats, Tata Sons' stake in the listed companies surged to Rs. 9.28 lakh crore marking a 34.4 percent surge on an annual basis.
