RBI writes off over Rs 68K cr loans of 50 top defaulters including Mehul Choksi and Vijay Mallya

According to a reply by the Reserve Bank of India to an RTI enquiry, Indian banks have written off a staggering amount of Rs 68,607 crore due from 50 top wilful defaulters, including absconding diamantaire Mehul Choksi and Vijay Mallya. The RBI said that this amount (Rs 68,607 crore) comprising outstanding and the amounts technically/prudentially written off till September 30, 2019. The list also includes the name of Vijay Mallya.
