Public Provident Fund (PPF) interest rate may fall to a 46-year low starting from July when they come up for revision. Consistent decline in bond yields may force the government to cut rates on small savings schemes for the July-September quarter. This would be the first time since 1974 that the PPF rate will fall below 7%. For the current April-June quarter, PPF rate was fixed at 7.1% at the end of March.
