The Pentagon has awarded IT-giant Microsoft a $10 billion cloud computing contract, ignoring the front runner Amazon due to its competitive bid. Pentagon said that the process was fair and followed procurement guidelines. Several IT-giants like Microsoft, Amazon, IBM and Oracle had placed bid for the project called Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure, or JEDI. The AI based project will be used by the US military for war planning.
