After thousands of labourers left for their home in May amid the coronavirus outbreak, the work in Mumbai and adjoining areas came to a halt. With the lockdown being lifted, Mumbai has started facing shortage of labours as only 10%-15% of them have returned from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and other areas despite the announcement of attractive packages and incentives. Many employers have also announced extra pay for labourers.
