The Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy has said that nearly 7.8 million or one-third of the 22.7 million jobs that were lost during the second wave of the pandemic have been recovered amid the phased unlocking by the states. “While the improvement in employment in June and in particular the increase in non-farm employment in the month is promising, the employment recovery challenge is steep because of a huge backlog,” CMIE said.
