Long-haul carrier Emirates fires staff amid virus

Dubai's long-haul carrier Emirates has fired an undisclosed number of employees as the virus pandemic continues to halt global aviation. It’s the latest Mideast airline to cut short staff numbers during the outbreak. Previously Abu Dhabi-based Etihad and Doha-based Qatar Airways had similarly fired staff as countries closed down their airspace to contain the virus spread and the losses have been tremendous.
