India's Big Step for Electric Vehicles-Govt deploys Rs 2,500 crore for 5000 Electric Buses

The central government will soon deploy 5000 electric buses across the country to boost the use of electric vehicles through the state transport authorities. The electric buses are to be deployed under the 2nd phase of the FAME scheme. Through the scheme, the cities that opt can avail a subsidy of 40% on the cost of electric buses; Rs 55 lakh per std bus, Rs 45 lakh for a midibus & Rs 35 lakh for a mini electric bus.
