India to become a global hub for aircraft maintenance, investment worth Rs 13,000 crore in 12 airports by private players

Moving ahead after announcing major reforms in the defence sector, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said India will become a global hub for Aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul. Airports Authority of India has awarded 3 airports out of 6 bid for operation and maintenance on Public-Private Partnership. She said restrictions on the utilisation of Indian Air Space will be eased so that civilian flying becomes more efficient.
